This is Mahabir Pun from Nangi village Nepal. I have been working as a volunteer in the mountains for more than 10 years. Apart from helping the community schools, I am also involved in nature conservation and environment protection programs. I am in Kathmandu now. I came to know from Mr. Kim Hong Sung that you are working on raising funds to support the school and community development projects in our district (Myagdi) Nepal for three years.
후원자분들께
네팔 낭기마을의 마하비르 푼입니다. 저는 10년이 넘는 시간동안 산속에서 자원봉사로 일하고 있습니다. 마을의 학교를 돕는 것과 별개로 저는 또한 자연보존과 환경보호활동에도 참여하고 있습니다. 저는 지금 카트만두에 있습니다. 김홍성씨를 통해 여러분들이 네팔의 우리 지역(Myagdi)의 학교와 마을발전사업을 3년동안 지원하기 위해 기금을 조성하고 있다는 것을 알게되었습니다.
There are different ways you can help the communities. I would like to tell you some of the ideas as how you can help for our project.
마을을 돕기 위해 여러가지 다른 방법들이 있습니다. 어떻게 우리의 계획을 도울 수 있을지에 대한 생각들을 적어보겠습니다.
1. Right now we are looking for support to start some vocational training programs such as carpentry, sewing, knitting, handicraft making, hand made paper making etc in the village. The idea is to teach people how to make those things to sell and help them to make some cash income in their own village. For this program, you can help to build training house, to buy equipment for the training and to pay for the trainers.
1. 우리들은 지금 목수일, 바느질, 뜨개질, 수공예품만들기, 종이만들기 등의 직업교육프로그램을 시작하기 위한 지원을 찾고 있습니다. 이 생각은 사람들에게 그러한 물건들을 어떻게 만들고 어떻게 팔지를 가르치고 각각의 마을에서 적은 수입원을 만드는 것을 돕기 위한 생각입니다. 여러분들은 이 프로그램을 위한 교육관을 짓거나 , 교육을 위한 도구들을 사거나, 교육하는 분들에게 돈을 지불하도록 도와주실 수 있습니다.
2. Secondly, our school is a community school. We get some support from the government to pay the salary of primary and middle school teachers only. Since the villagers can’t pay high tuition fee, we need to find other ways to pay for the high school teachers.
2. 두번째로 우리 학교는 마을학교입니다. 우리는 정부로부터 초등학교, 중학교 선생님들의 월급만 지원받습니다. 마을 사람들이 높은 교육비를 내지 못하기 때문에 우리는 고등학교 선생님들의 월급을 지불할 다른 방법들을 찾아야만 합니다.
Moreover, we extended the school to 11th grade in July 2003 for which we hired 4 new teachers. Right now we are looking for support to pay for those four new high school teachers. The monthly salary of one teacher is about USD150 per month. This salary is slightly higher than the basic salary the high school teachers get in the city. The reason we had to pay them a little bit higher is because most of the qualified teachers don’t want to go to the mountain villages to teach. For example, the English teacher of the high school was not satisfied with the salary and left in October, and I had to teach in the school for three months by myself.
게다가 우리는 2003년 6월에 11학년까지 늘리게 되어 4명의 새로운 교사들을 고용하였습니다. 지금 우리는 그 4명의 교사들에게 월급을 지불할 수 있도록 지원을 찾고 있습니다. 선생님 1명의 월급은 $150입니다. 이 월급은 도시의 고등학교 선생님의 월급보다 조금 높습니다. 우리가 월급을 더 주는 이유는 좋은 선생님들은 산지마을에 가르치러 오려고 하지를 않기 때문입니다.예를 들면, 고등학교의 영어 선생님은 월급에 만족하지 못해 지난10월 학교를 떠났습니다. 그래서 제가 혼자서 3달동안 가르쳐야만 했습니다.
3. You can help to expand the library that we have in the village. It is a community library that has about 3000 books in English and Nepali. We are looking for support to expand the library and make the library and community center also.
3. 여러분은 또한 우리 마을의 도서관을 늘리는 것을 도울 수 있습니다. 마을 도서관은 영어와 네팔어로 된 3000권의 책을 소장하고 있습니다. 우리는 도서관 도서관을 늘리고 또 도서관과 마을회관을 만들기 위한 지원을 찾고 있습니다.
4. You can help to install a 10 KW hydrogenerator for the school in Nangi. Right now we have two hydrogenerators running – 4 kw and 2 kw. The 4 kw generator is old one. The 4 kw hydrogenerator is also used by the villagers to grind corn and millet during th day. Therefore we only get power from that generator at night. However, we need power for the school durimg the day time too. Anyway, the power from those generators is not enough for the school now. Therefore we are looking for support to install a 10 KW hydrogenerator for the school. I found from a hydrogenerator manufacturer in Kathmandu that it approxmately costs about USD15,000 to install a 10 kw hydrogenerator.
4. 또한 낭기마을 학교를 위한 10KW 수력발전기를 설치하는 것을 도울 수 있습니다. 현재 4Kw와 2Kw의 2대의 수력발전기가 운영되고 있습니다. 4Kw발전기는 오래된 것입니다. 4Kw 수력발전기는 또한 마을사람들이 옥수수나 기장을 갈기위해 사용됩니다. 따라서 우리는 밤에만 발전기로부터 에너지를 얻을 수 있습니다. 그러나 우리는 낮에도 학교를 위해 에너지가 필요합니다. 어쨌든 그 발전기로부터 나오는 에너지들은 학교를 위해 충분하지 않습니다. 따라서 우리는 학교를 위한 10Kw 수력발전기를 설치할 지원을 찾고 있습니다. 저는 카츠만두의 수력발전기 제작자를 통해 설치를 위해 대략 $150000가 든다고 하는 것을 알았습니다.
5. For the environment protection program, we are looking for support to find ways to collect and recycle the solid wastes like plastics, and batteries in the mountain villages. Plastics and used batteries have been a major threat for the environment in the mountains. We can see those wastes everywhere in the mountain region now.
5. 환경보호 프로그램을 위해 우리는 플라스틱, 마을의 배터리 등의 고체쓰레기들을 모으고 재활용하기 위한 방법을 찾기 위한 지원을 찾고 있습니다. 플라스틱과 사용후 배터리는 산의 환경의 가장 큰 위협요소입니다. 우리는 지금 산지 전 지역에서 그러한 쓰레기들을 볼 수 있습니다.
There are some recycling centers in Nepal, but all of them are located in the southern part and big cities. It is almost impossible to bring the recyclable materials from the mountain to those recycling centers. Therefore we are trying to find ways to manage and recycle those solid wastes in the mountain area.
네팔에는 재활용센터가 몇몇 있습니다 그러나 모두 서부지역과 큰 도시에만 위치하고 있습니다. 재활용가능한 물품들을 산으로부터 재활용센터까지 가지고 가는 것은 거의 불가능합니다. 따라서 우리는 산지역 내에서 고형쓰레기를 관리하고 재활용하기 위한 방법을 찾기 위해 노력하고 있습니다.
We are starting a solid waste management program this year in the village in small scale for trial. For this we are publishing a manual or a handout written in Nepali for the villagers. We want to expand the program in large scale in future. You can support for this program too.
우리는 올해 고형쓰레기 관리프로그램을 위한 작은 규모의 시도를 시작하고 있습니다. 마을 사람들을 위해 네팔어로 쓰인 메뉴얼 또는 유인물을 제작하고 있습니다. 우리는 이 프로그램이 앞으로는 큰 규모로 확장되길 원합니다. 이 프로그램을 지원하실 수 있습니다.
