WCS와 러시아 과학자들에 의해 이루어지고 있는 비밀촬영(camera-trap-번역을 어떻게 해야하나요??^^;)이 아무르표범 수가 증가한 것으로 보였다. 표본지역의 그림에서 나타난 표범의 수가 증가하고 있다. 10마리(2003년), 13(2004년), 14(2005년).
결과는 전체 개체수가 30마리에서 40마리 정도로 증가했을지도 모른다는 것을 보여준다.
티그리스재단과 Zoological Society of London 은 아무르표범의 서식처에 오일파이프라인과 터미널을 짓는 계획에 대해 반대하는 캠페인을 벌여왔다. 우리는 언론의 주목과 IUCN과 UNESCO 와 같은 국제적인 단체들의 참여를 조직해냈다. 유럽동물원연합인 EAZA와 미국 counterpart AZA는 항의편지와 사이버 시위를 통해 캠페인에 참가했다. BBC World는 곧 파이프라인에 관한 프로그램을 방송할 예정이다. 캠페인이 성공적일 것으로 확신한다.
표범수의 결과는 보전노력이 효과적이었다는 것을 보여준다. 불행히도, 재정결과는 캠페인에 사용해야하는 재정결과는 떨어졌다. 더 많은 모금이 가능하지 않으면, 우리는 현장활동의 수를 중단해야만 한다. 올해 더 많은 기부를 해주기를 바란다!

Camera-trap counts by WCS and Russian scientists indicate that the Amur leopard population is increasing!
The number of individual leopards appearing on pictures in a sample area is rising: 10 (2003), 13 (2004) and 14 (2005).
The results indicate that the total population may have increased from approximately 30 to around 40 animals.
Tigris Foundation and the Zoological Society of London have been campaigning against a plan to build an oil pipeline and terminal in the habitat of the remaining Amur leopards. We arrange media attention and involvement of international organisations such as IUCN and UNESCO. The European zoo association EAZA and its American counterpart AZA participate in the campaign with protest letters and website alerts. BBC World is presently producing a feature on the pipeline issue. We are confident that the campaign will be successful.
The leopard count results show that the conservation efforts are effective! Unfortunately, fundraising results have dropped due to the time we need to spend on the campaign. If no additional funds become available, we will have to discontinue a number of field projects.
