*Wildlife Friends of Thailand (www.wfthai.org)– Our Wildlife Rescue Center is located at Kao Look Chang Temple in the Petchaburi province approximately 200 kilometers south of Bangkok. The Sanctuary is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals previously exploited as pets or used for profit within the tourist industry. Most of the animals residing at our sanctuary were maltreated before they arrived here, suffering from abuse, malnutrition, neglect and improper care.  Many of our animals arrive with permanent disabilities and hence, cannot be returned to the wild.  And sadly, a large percentage of our ‘residents’ have never lived freely in nature, never communed with other like species, and as a result, could not survive without human assistance.
Our mission is to give these animals the best quality of life possible in captivity, whether here or at any other sanctuary. We’ve completed construction of two gibbon islands, allowing the gibbons to move about freely, to establish territories and mates, and to live a life as close as possible to a life in the wild. Rescue (disabled) wild animals from places where they are maltreated, and help them to spend the rest of their lives in a sanctuary as close to the natural environment as possible with the best possible care.  Our objectives are:
·        Gather knowledge to start up a release program for those animals that apply for re-introduction into the wild.
·        Prevent hunting, educate children and adults to stop cruelty to animals.
·        Promote conservation of all natural resources wildlife and fauna alike.
·        Cooperate with and assist the Royal Forestry Department and other organizations concerned with the rescue and conservation of wild animals.
·        Set up and join activities with other charitable organizations for the public benefit.
